: I do as Rod described for the inside of the vertical part and the
: top surface of the lip.
: I glass the outside of the vertical part and the underside of the
: lip with pieces of bias cut 4 oz cloth about 4" to 6"
: long. I make them just wide enough to extend beyond the edge of
: the lip and about 1/4" to 1/2" onto the flat part of
: the deck or deck recess.
: I don't even bother to mask off the deck. I find it easy enough to
: sand down the edges after the epoxy has cured. It is a bit
: awkward working in that confined area, but it is also hard to
: detect imperfections than far under the lip.
: I hope that was the part of the job that you were referring to.
When I do the CF coamings I make a wood riser and fit the coaming into the hole, so I only have the vertical strip to glass. No reason doing a wood only coaming that you couldn't do it that way too, put the risers in for the coaming, glass that, then put on the lip later, would be I think a heck of alot easier than trying to glass the whole coaming at once.
