Thanks everyone, especially Paul J for his epistle :-).
I know all the arguments, but I like the look of finger joints and hadn't done it, nor could I remember anyone ever having done it or having discussed it.
So the question was waiting to be asked and since a good bit is worth a mint, I thought I would find out before buying.
Well, Paul R doesn't seem to have a good experience.
I've ripped the boards already, but every strip is in the order and orientation it came off and different boards are bundled, so easily sorted.

The king billy pine is not figured, almost boring, so joints will be hard to see, but it is light and better to work than WRC.
I'm going to build a kayak from only local Tasmanian timbers, so still want to use it.
I'm also going to bevel instead of b & c, so not scarfing will probably work better for me, but I'm still intrigued.
I'm tempted to give it a go.
