One of the cool things about boat building is that it makes you aware of just how mesmerized by power tools we have become. A lot of our fellow woodworkers persistently think we use hand planes, pull saws, etc., when building boats because we're "purists" or something. BS! Nine times out of ten we're merely picking up the tool works best, period.

But the flip side is that our quiet, benign hand tools can "getcha" too. Yup. My beloved Japanese pull saw has gotten my undivided attention twice now. The SOB. Ow.
