: Actually those would be very handy here, though I'll have to think
: about being able to fold the table top in half so can use as
: extension tables on the bandsaw (with a 3' wide table I couldn't
: reach the saw ).
: Everything except the workbench is on wheels here, makes it easy to
: gain floor space.
: Btw, my workbench is three Craftsman workbench bases joined to form
: a 12' bench. I'm going to be using a two by top under the
: particle board to make them more rigid. Going to trim 2x4's to
: eliminate the rounded edge they normally have, probably trim
: them to 1 1/2" x 3" then glue them together to form a
: rigid base for the actual top. The particle board surface has a
: much higher impact strength than the MDF everyone seems to like.
: The top will then be 3/4" ply, with a 1 1/2" softwood
: middle and a 3/4" particle board surface, should be fairly
: rigid ;)

Oops, two many names there, sorry.
Btw, if you use sheet goods for the top, be it plywood, mdf or even particle board, beware that the edges are prone to fracture. Best to edge the surface with hardwood that's more damage resistant. I suspect I'll use poplar, it's fairly inexpensive.
I do some minor machine work on the benches, I don't have a milling machine or metal lathe (though I'd like to) but I do play with mechanics, mostly motorcycles, and need a more rough bench than you'd need just for woodwork. Was out yesterday looking for what I think will be my new bike :)
