: Hi Everyone
: Here is the Strip Nikumi beside the original. The Nikumi is a SOF
: baidarka designed by Tom Yost and offered for free on his
: website.
: I built mine a couple years ago and liked it very much. I wanted to
: try to build it in a strip version. Tom agreed and provided me
: the offsets for stations spaced 12" centers. I faired the
: offsets into a rounded hull and left the deck like it was. Joe
: Whitman's Petrel inspired the Walnut accent wood. Malcolm
: Schweizer inspired the Curly Maple and Mahogany in the deck. The
: rest is cedar. The coaming and thigh hook design is from Joe at
: Redfish Kayaks. I like Joe's method of molding the coaming and
: lip from 1/16 Mahogany veneer. Thanks to Kurt Maurer and Bill
: Hamm for the 3.25 oz glass and other light weight building
: Ideas. In fact I should thank everyone who contributes to this
: forum, you all inspire and support so much.
: I am finishing up the seat and some other rigging details for the
: first paddle soon. I will varnish later after I paddle for
: couple months.
: Thanks everyone,
: Clayton Plunkett
Hi Clayton,
Look very nice :)
How 'bout a side view so can see the bow?
Did you use Rob Mack's instructions for the bow/stern?
