It is not wood but I think a few folks here will find this interesting.
Imagine skateboard wheels made from composite kayak materials. Nah.
Now imagine a composite kayak made with skateboard wheel material. Thanks to Sterling and friends I will have the first one in the world. It popped out of the molds this morning at 25 lbs with the flanges still on it. I hope to be posting photos of it on the water by next weekend. Test panels have proven incredibly tough which translates to lighter and stronger layup schedules. Working procedures are quite complex so I don't see this having much value for the home builders. Tis interesting stuff though.
