: nobody is goinf to see it. I am more concerned with weight and
: strength. So, do just need to get the glue out and knock the
: edges off the strips? Or do I need to have a totally fair

Hi Bill,
if the inside is not smooth you will have difficulty getting the fibreglass to lie flat. You will get air bubbles under your fibreglass and the fibreglass will eventually break there as it is not supported. It doesn't have to be furniture grade, but it does have to be without hills and dales.
