Launching: The Strip built Nikumi *PIC*

Hi Everyone,
I got the strip built Nikumi launched last weekend. What a great feeling to be paddling what I have been working on this winter. I have to sand, varnish and rig the deck lines, however I will paddle for 4 or 5 weeks first. It paddled just great, plenty stable in very rough chop. I like how the bow works when waves are breaking over it and the stern just rises up on waves approaching from the rear sweetly The ridged deck sheds water well also. This Nikumi acts good even when the wind and waves were up a bit.
I will enjoy this qajaq very much, it is a great addition to my growing collection of strip and skin on frame craft.
Many thanks to Tom Yost for providing the needed offsets and steady encouragement. Thanks to Rob Macks for the beautiful design of the bifid bow and Aluet stern.
I will follow with some more pictures.
