The wind drag isn't as bad as you think. Even with two boats on the roof with open cockpits our fuel economy only drops 1-2 mpg. I don't think covers would help much in that regard. I'd use them more for keeping rain out. 1-2" of rain water in kayak makes for a very unstable load on top of your vehicle.

Instead of buying one consider making one. Its a very simple sewing project.
