Made a full foot-brace panel, 1/8" ply, two layers of carbon-fiber, very strong.

I've since been trying to make hinges for the rudder peddles (and the lever for my foot pump.)

I've tried wrapping epoxied coated carbon fiber strips around various 'tubes' to create a slot for a hinge pin. Used PVA Release, saran wrap..... wrapped around a carbon-fiber tent pole, an aluminum rod,
carbon cloth (I think I have about 6 oz) and use West Resin and Fast Hardener. Th
All I've done so far is make a mess. The PVA doesn't release, I can't get the 'mold pins' out....

I bought some 6mm carbon tubes (1/4" ID) for RC model boats; figuring I'd just epoxy these by wrapping carbon around them to attach them to a rudder peddle. Even this isn't working.

I just need a strong reliable hinge for rudder peddles.
(I've looked at the existing and available hinges, nothing looks like what I need.
Questions:
1. Is there a known simple solution? I've Googled for every possible combination of foot- brace rest rudder peddle.... etc.. but have never even seen a photo of the back of one of the full foot braces others have made.
2. Other suggestions.
