: Hi Bill,
: I use west system epoxy and they say
: Apply second and subsequent coats of epoxy following the same
: procedures. Make sure the previous coat has cured firmly enough
: to support the weight of the next coat. To avoid sanding between
: coats, apply all of the coats in the same day. See Special
: preparation-Cured epoxy. After the final coat has cured
: overnight, wash and sand it to prepare for the final finish.
Thanks for all the comments! They were all very wise comments and brought up many important issues.
But:
Decided to go for "bullet proof" with two layers of 6 oz. on the hull.
I know I know, a "Newbie" mistake, but what can I say, I'm a "Newbie"!
Rocky cobble beaches of Lake Superior, I paddle into the sand on sandy beaches,
and I've got a Rack & Roll trailer, so 9 times out of 10 I never lift my boat up.
I want to build a boat that's a "user" not a work of art. i.e. also included are VCP hatches and Impex grab handles,
so a work of art it will not be.
Don't get me wrong, some of the pictures you guys post of the boats you build are unbelievably
beautiful, and I take my hat off to you! But I just want a boat I'll never, hopefully, have problems with.
I don't ever want to have leaky hatches, a strong boat for cross country road trips, and I'm real tuff on boats.
Thanks again for everyones 2 cents, it's worth tons to me!
Paul
