The 'dry shrink' process is a hit or miss affair.
If you search this forum, or qayaq usa forum, you will find many sad stories "I did everything right, but the skin became wrinkled when wet,
what did I do wrong and how do I fix it?"
There are many kinds of nylon, people use different ironing techniques, and different coatings. That's why the results are inconsistent.
On the other hand, the 'sew wet' technique is reliable due to simple logic.
Wet nylon is as loose as it gets, and if you sew it tight, it is physically impossible for it to get looser.
'Sew wet' is not as popular as 'dry shrink' because it is a bit more work during the sewing work, even though the reward is guaranteed ever-tight nylon.
