Hello James,

I'm not a real fan of inflatable kayaks because they flex. I have seen very expensive hypalon ones for river use, but for "open ocean" I wouldn't want one. I'm considering "open ocean" to mean paddling offshore beyond the swim zone. I just googled the RK375 and got this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=snKi68R1WXs Look at the way that thing wiggles when he paddles. For open water you need something with more keel that will track, and something that you can roll. I think it would make a great diveyak for diving near-shore reefs, or a good boat for exploring mangroves, but I wouldn't consider that an open water boat. Actually there is a guy here that uses a similar boat for a dive business, but he just stays in one bay with them.

I don't know what your budget is, but Feathercraft makes an awesome folder called the "Khatsolano" which is a Greenland style kayak. The only problem is last I looked it was over $5,000 USD.

Have you considered a Yost folder? Lots of folks here have built them and had nothing but good to say about them.
