: After that I put a fast sloppy coat of Exterior varnish on all
: the lower surfaces I could reach and it never happened again and
: never happens to all the other boats I varnished.

I could see inside the area of the cockpit around the coaming, the rest of the interior is usually pretty much out of any light. When I'm not paddling mine the cockpit cover is usually on if nothing else to keep bugs out, so it doesn't see the sun most of the time.
