Ian, next time, :) you may find you can get heat shrink tubing in the electrical section of a larger chandlery/boat equipment supplier. Often have it available in packets of a few pieces 3-6" long in a variety of sizes. I prefer the adhesive lined type though it does seem to be slightly more bulky - maybe due to the glue layer, but it also seems a bit higher quality in general so may just be thicker to start with.
