: How about your 15 lb. canoe? Is it still together and in use?
Yup still working, took it to a few lakes last summer. The other day I portaged it a few kilometers back to where the water was open on our local resivoir (its still mostly frozen, kinda depressing really).
So far its been bashed it into some submerged boulders (I learned that rock-slides on shore extend past the edge of the lake and into the water, but when the lake is turquoise with glacial till, you cant see them), caught by the wind while portaging and flung about 10 feet into some small trees (I think you need about 40km/h winds to turn the canoe into a kite), accidentally dropped about 10' down a gravel embankment, and dragged across I don't know how many trees and bushes. No real damage from all that, just scrapes on the goop. It will be interesting to see if it gets more brittle over time, the cedar I used was pretty green.
