I am near completion of re finishing my Ches. 18. Thx for the ideas. I was attempting to duplicate the process but lacked the quick dry super glue at the time. After failure due to not having the glue at hand I improvised. First I slid on the 3/8 shrink wrap tubing. Then stretched the cord ends parallel with each end in the opposite direction, and clamped down. As stated above this is done to shrink the width. Got out my whipping twine and sewed the cord ends to each other. I did a good inch. Not sure glue here is necesary but I thought a good soaking of super glue would help keep the stitches in place. I got off my butt and found some. After all is dry take a hot knife and trim the ends. Slide the shrink wrap over the sewing job. Release the clamps and shrink the tubing.
