Clayton is right. He must be, or his boats wouldn't look as good as they do. If you wait past 24 hours or so, my understanding is that the epoxy has cured past the time in which you can depend on the chemical bond, and you need to do a light sanding to scratch up the surface for a mechanical bond for the next application of epoxy (and glass with this step). It's a hard thing to do, scratch up that nice looking coat, but the next coat looks even better.
