How would you raise and lower the sail when conditions require?

Check out this web site. Laurie Ford pretty much pioneered the idea of sails on kayaks, and has included some basic info here on how to do it. I saw him and his wife in action with their sails around Southport Island, Maine, and it was amazing how much "ground" they could cover compared to us mere paddlers.

: I plan on mounting a v shaped sail on the bow of my 17' strip. I am
