: Good to know, sure didn't want to hear a sickening crack for doing
: something stupid. I do have a strip cedar bulkhead 2" aft
: of the seat. The construction of the coaming riser seems fragile
: during construction but I guess the combined strength of all the
: parts plus the glass makes it pretty strong.
: Thanks all.

You won't believe how strong the hull and coaming is. Once you glass the lip on, it's incredibly strong.
Bulkhead: I stripped one too. Despite 6oz glass in and out, my weight (same as yours) on the rear deck flexed the deck enough to compress the bulkhead. I had stripped it horizontally and used something like silicone (can't remember what it was, but something a little flexible). Anyway, the bulkhead broke under the compression force (since it was only stripped and epoxy seal coated - so it would have had virtually no strength to oppose a vertical compression force).
Admittedly I'm not one to treat her like an egg shell. But when I do the repair I'm going to strip it vertically.
Cheers Ian
