We've discussed that. There's another long, narrow, deep lake nearby. The air museum is convinced Gaspereau Lake is the location though. There's a lot of anecdotal evidence, and there was a sighting by a search helicopter crew's SAR-techs. They'd intended to dive it themselves, but the helicopter and crew were lost in an accident a few weeks later. That was the start of the fire dept. divers involvement helping the air museum. We've got a couple pictures from the time (mid-40's) of the aircraft on the ice. It was an engine out forced landing. The story is the recovery crew had fires on the ice to warm the engines for a re-start, the ice let go and down it went. It could be embedded in feet of silt, or may have gone down in or by a rock formation. It's dark enough down below 30 feet we could swim by it ten feet away and not see it. The logistics and harsh conditions on this lake are an issue too. We've had some close calls, rock hits, diver entanglements etc. The four foot eels put some people off too. If we get some new information I'll dive it again, but I haven't been there for a few years now.
