I built the wide version of the F1. IMO the Bairdarka bags are a poor fit to my boat but they're as big as I was able to find ... I use a Baidarka bag in the rear and an NRS bag in the front ... so I agree with ya ... there's still a lot of space that's unfilled by the bags.

I initially tried to make float bags out of the WallyWorld clear vinyl ala Tom Yost. The problem was that they were very heavy and the long stiff seams prevented the bag from taking on the proper shape ... so they didn't fit the F1 well either. They held air just fine though.
