Technically, polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and vinyl are the same thing.

For my own purpose, I've long used the term PVC to describe supported
vinyl ( cloth core), and vinyl to describe unsupported vinyl ( no cloth),
or to describe the vinyl coatings. I don't want to leave anyone confused on this.
