: I managed to cut out the end forms for my Night Heron project.
: Progress has been slow due to illness. Having spent the last
: three days cooped up at home, I got antsy in my pantsy and
: couldn't sit (or lay down) any longer so I went into the garage
: and started cutting. I am gonna try to start setting the forms
: onto the internal strong back I built for the project some time
: today. I have one question. I am thinking to produce a white
: kayak using pine or spruce or something else that will contrast
: with the colors of my inlay woods, which will be made from
: cedar, mahogany and other red/brown/blue reflecting woods. Any
: idea which wood type would give me the whitest or at least
: closest to white appearance without sacrificing structural
: integrity?

Hi Robert

I'd suggest white pine. The white parts of the contrasting strip in this boat are pine, the rest is a couple shades of Eastern White cedar. This pic is after the fill coat of epoxy. I've got the glass on the outside now, and the pine still stands out.
