By the way, since there's no Zar around here, I went with Cabot Marine Spar Varnish on the re-skin of my Black Pearl last weekend. Mixed with lamp black artist paint. Very nice to apply, but the FUMES! Good grief. I guess Zar is low odor. I had to evacuate the shop and open the bay doors and windows and turn on a fan. Good grief. I think it made as good a coating as Zar though... the can specifically mentioned flexibility as a cured property... in relation to the expansion and contraction of wood though. I doubt Zar is the one and only choice of all the Polys as it sometimes seems to be.

May be that poly + paint on nylon is the equal of oil paint on polyester. And probably, since I guess, oil paint + polyurethane is probably about the same thing as oil paint in a can anyhow, one could probably just use Rustoleum on nylon and be fine. But by the time I get to that stage, it's too much of a gamble, I just want to paddle.
