That is something like I am thinking. Initial layer of nylon skin, but lighter nylon, coat with some kind of goo, stick a layer on top. I don't know what that means for needed to develop stitching techniques, or cutting fabric patterns prior to sewing, or stretching a skin tight. If GacoRoof is an "elastomeric air dry silicone rubber coating", it's probably not terribly durable to scrapes and whatnot. So the top fabric provides that protection? I think I read that the outside of a Feathercraft skin is a urethane coating that is simply imprinted with a fabric texture.

All this conjecture and testing is ultimately aimed at getting really nice finishes on SOF. I don't know why it can't approach the fit and finish and creativity seen on strippers. We need something like Maroske fittings, and dry storage on deck. We can do fine now just whipping up a seam and painting the kayak. That's good, it's quick, and the coatings we have work fine. There's a unique kind of wabi-sabi beauty and functionality that goes with traditionally finished and rigged kayaks. What the greenlandkayak.gl people appear to be doing really excites me, for one. I do wonder why I can't seem to find any actual photos of these fancy decks tho... : )
