Thanks Bill! I'm itching to get her painted and in the water. It's a good thing I'm travelling for work this week... otherwise, I don't think I'd have the patience to follow Locktite's recommendation of waiting a full week before I put paint over the PL. I swear I can hear the kayak calling me from the garage.

I read your posts about doweling the coaming... I was tempted, but I'd already bought the brass screws, and had no idea what else I'd use them for ;oD. As much of a pain it was putting the rear screws in, since the rear of the cockpit's too low to fit the screwdriver... I believe I'll be doweling it next time around. I did put a thin line of some "Welder Contact Adhesive" that claims it's permanent, but I find it a little too giving. I've used it to repair a belt buckle in the past. The major attraction of the buckle concerns a silver dollar in the middle, which looked to be epoxied in originally. The epoxy finally gave way (I have no idea how old the buckle is; it's a heirloom from my dad, so some decades old). Used the adhesive to pop it in, let it cure, and discovered I put the coin in upside down. Had to cut/peel the adhesive away, and it came off fairly easily. So when I need to get the coaming free in the future, I'm sure I can work a small blade in between it and the base ring.

That being said, the next time I have to put the coaming back in, I'll be doweling it. I think I've got the screws placed where the slight protrusion of the heads won't bother me, but a dowel would be a simpler and more elegant solution.
