Thanks Mike, I don't understand "Then you only fit the butt joint at the sheer strip".

I was also wondering whether all the cheater strips could be run past the sheer strip before it was fixed in place and then all trimmed off with one cut and then the sheer strip fitted, similar to how the hull strips are run past the centreline and all trimmed at once. Did that make sense?
