Thanks, both of you. I suspect my buddy wouldn't put it in anything remotely close to "rough" waters as so far he's only paddled in protected waters and even got motion sickness once doing that. As for weight, I was just throwing a number out there since I haven't made a nylon boat before, just PVC. I originally had 15 pounds but thought I might be cutting the numbers too much. The poles themselves would only weigh a couple pounds, maybe 5 if I went with heavier weight poles. Either way, I'm not to a point to try this yet, but it's something I'd still like to test out.
