Cutting 3-4+ feet off a 17+ foot boat won't fly. If I were looking for a shorter SOF boat I'd look at a shorter model or look for the Yost-style version of a Cape Falcon.

I have a 14'9" Sea Tour 15 that has been modified to look more "Greenlandy." This was built in one of Bill Hamm's classes. I believe Tom has the offsets. This boat accelerates, turns and tracks extremely well and keeps up with long boats at cruising speed. It is not going to be a fantastic sprinter..

I also live in a condo and boat length is a consideration for me. I would take a hard look at the Tom's inflatable kayak designs. I'm building a stripper right now, but I have a feeling that the eventual Sonnet will be the most-used kayak.
