Skin-on-Frame: Cyprus for stringers??

Has anyone used Cyprus for stringers in a SOF boat. I am gearing up to build one as soon as I finish my current strip project and have some clear Cyprus lying around. I know Cyprus is heavier (approx 34% - Specific Gravity of .510 vs .380 for Cedar). Is the weight the only consideration? Should I just suck it up and buy some Cedar?
