S&G: Progress Report: cockpit glassed and...

Keith and I managed to get the cockpits glassed last week. I also stopped by mom's and used glass tape to glass the stern and bow of Linda's WD Solace 16EX, so all I have left to do with the hull is sand and apply a finishing coat of epoxy. We fully expect to get the decks attached permanently within 7 days. The link below takes you to the pix:

Also, I got out on the river last week to do some paddling. The link for those pix is below:

Now that I got all that outta the way, I will also tell y'az that I bought a luggge weigh scale and weighed the VJ (WD Lightning 17)and my S&G Night Heron. The VJ came out at 52-lbs (empty and with the hatches attached) while the NH weighed in at 32-lbs. I was a little disappointed that the NH came out heavier than 32-lbs but it's still very light to carry so that's no biggie. I was not surprised that the VJ came out so heavy considering her heavy end pours and the brass keels. The VJ remains a tanky ice breaking craft while the NH will remain an easy to maneuver play boat.
