I think it looks like a great kayak for the price. It will be tons of fun. I'd put on a detachable or drop skeg while you've to the fiberglass out. That will make it versatile enough to do open-ish water, and still do rivers. Some nice polyurethane topsides paint and it will look better than any rec boat you'll run into, and perform better too.
You've got to get float bags. No matter where you paddle it, it's a crucial safety addition. It was designed to have float bags, a place like NRS should carry bags that will fit.
