Some time ago I posted about the problems I had fastening heavy-duty velcro to the underside of the foredeck of my strip-built Greenlander Night Heron. The velcro was intended for fastening a mini-cell foam masik at the forward end of my cockpit for thigh bracing. I received a number of helpful replies, none of which I can find.
I bought some McMaster-Carr "velcro" similar to what's used to fasten transponders to car windshields. Someone, I think it was Brian Nystrom, suggested I first sew some nylon webbing to the velcro backing and then fasten that to the epoxied strips with epoxy. I plan to try that. What's the easiest secure way to fasten the McMaster-Carr stuff to the mini-cell foam? I'm hoping I don't have to go the webbing route for that. The masik has to be removed frequently, so permanent fastening is not an option.
I've been away from this project for a long time as the result of a tree falling on our house, causing us to move out for almost half a year, and I'm anxious to finish up my outfitting and get back to enjoying the kayak.
