Jim, I used wood flour. I was thinking of something like an icing bag to apply it evenly when I remembered some syringes from a wisdom tooth extraction. I stuffed one full of goop, clipped off the end to about 1/8th " and basically caulked the fillet. Then smoothed it out gently with a gloved finger. I've heard a baggy with a clipped corner will also work. The second syringe layed the four bulkhead fillets in no time with little mess.

Instead of barreling in like I did, maybe set up a few practice joints and see what you like.
At any rate, the brown fillet looks pretty nice with most woods.
