Got some rigging on the front deck today. I redid the grab loops, too. The monkey fist knot was rather small on 'em, and the small rope dug into my hand while I was carrying the kayak at Grafton. Having the cockpit loaded up with the bag of charcoal and some other supplies while we were carrying it probably didn't help. You can't see it in the photo, but I retied the grab loop using a blood or barrel knot (can't remember if I turned the lines the same way or opposite). I then slipped a 4" length of vinyl tubing over the knots, which should help the knots stay tight, and adds some padding for my hands.

The vinyl tubing *just* fits under the perimeter line as it passes from one side to the other. It's tight, much more tight than I'd like, but I'll deal with it for now. I may try to rig up some other way to secure the grab loop with less tension. I figure I can deal with it until I reskin her.
