^ this, definitely. I had a slow leak in mine and I just put it up on saw horses, poured a bunch of water inside, and it started slowly dripping out, I just circled the area with a grease pen when I saw where the drips were coming from. I only had a tiny hole but I found it easy enough.
As others have said, other possible sources are deck leaks (I used aquaseal on mine), leaks through your spray skirt (I finally got one that has a plastic strip to keep it tented) and water brought in via your boots (a surprising amount).
