Back when I built my first wood stip kayak, epoxy had to be protected from UV. I realize that epoxies with no UV protection in them still need protection. Last year my wife talked me into building 2 stand up paddle boards (Paul Jensen designs). On the paddle boards I used Resin Research 2000CE/2100F along with Additive F. The 2000CE resin has UV inhibitors in it. That was my final finish on the boards. Except for when they are being used, they are stored in the garage out of the sun ( I am in Florida). Using epoxy as the final finish seems to be pretty standard with home built surf boards. Both of mine are about a year old now and still look good. Any thoughts on using epoxy was the final finish?
BTW-I have no affiliation with Resin Research or Paul Jensen.
