You might consider shaping (forming, carving) a lightweight wood block to fill the sharp awkward area behind the internal stem. The triangular wedge can be glued in with thickened epoxy which helps fill gaps in the fit. It's easier to lay cloth in the resulting area and the block provides structural support for the toggle handles. This eliminates the need for an end pour which I imagine is an awkward process and possibly adds more weight than a wood block.
