I built a Cirrus about 8 years ago and made the cockpit opening about 36" by 19" because I have a left leg that doesn't work very well. I was able to get in and out with some difficulty. Since than I have had a hip replacement(right side) and a crushed vertabrae so getting in and out is very difficult. I like the open cockpit idea and I may take a saw to the Cirrus and make one. At 74 I am not ready to hang up the paddle.
