: Are you paddling frog-legged? I'm still hazy on the reason behind
: the hump ahead of the cockpit.
I can go frog-legged for more leverage while rolling, but while forward stroking my legs are straight out in front, with my knees pumping up and down a bit, which is helped by having my feet vertical and together against a bulkhead footrest. This is very much like a sprint kayak position, but in the sprint kayak the knees can come up higher while pumping. I need lower knee bracing for rolling and made that compromise. So the front of the ocean cockpit is low for knee bracing against a foam masik and the foot area is high for my feet to be vertical and together. Vertical feet stick up higher than the knees. It also makes a very low volume kayak much more comfortable.
