G'Day All!
I'm building one of Dave Gentry's Chuckanut 12's. The frame is finished, and I'm now working on the fabric (8 0z polyester). Dave recommends covering the hull and deck separately, stapling the fabric to the gunwales, but I like the looks of those rolled and whip stitched seams running down the deck centerline so much that I decided sew it on in one piece, instead. Following Jeff Horton's procedure in his Kudzucraft video, I started in the center and worked toward the ends. From the bow to the aftermost frame, everything is fine, but from the last frame to the stern, I've got so much extra fabric on deck that it looks like it's pleated.
I'm about ready to admit defeat, staple the hull fabric to the gunwales, and order enough more fabric to do the deck separately. Such a solution sure runs counter to my cheapskate philosophy though. Can y'all help me salvage the situation?
Thanks, Ronnie
