In Response To: Skin-on-Frame: Bungee or lines through gunwales? (Wayne One (wwfloyd))
: I think some of you have done this, including Yost type boats with
: 1 1/2 inch gunwales. Any concerns about weakening with softer
: woods? I had to go with Radiata pine (not really sure how I feel
: about that). Sealing -- might do OK with Lexel and your latigo
: cords. If I do bungee, though, I wonder if the area between skin
: and gunwale will be a seepage area...?
For decklines on my SOF's I do the drill-through-gunwale-and-seal route. Bungees and polyester cord. I use Marine GOOP to seal the cord/bungee.
