The instructor is findable if I need to, but he now lives a couple hours away and I think I have everything I need. I talked to my friend who built one and he said the coaming is just layered plywoood as I suspected. But he also
mentioned that it is completely glassed in, from the deck up and over the coaming and into the cockpit. So I certainly won't be chiseling it off. Not sure how this should change my approach, if at all.
