: I'm coming across two problems:

: 1. You can't see the whole curve of the hull with the slot clamps
: sticking out. I'm wondering how people place strips along the
: sheer line so they're able to check fairness.

: fine. These forms were CNC cut and looked perfect prior to

Clamps will distort the strip unless it is aligned with (clamped to) a previously aligned strip.

Tack the sheer strip on with staples or hot glue. Move the sheer strip up or down on a station to get a fair curve when viewed from the side of the hull.

View sheer strips on both sides of the hull at the same time to assess fairness from the top of the hull. If there is a flat spot at one station, move that station slightly
in the direction of the flat spot to even out the fair lines between both sides.

Once you like the fairness of your sheer strips, if your sheer strips get beat up from moving them around, pulling and adding staples or hot glue,
add a new strip above the strip WITHOUT gluing it to the sheer strip. Then remove the beat-up sheer strip and put a fresh strip in its place. And glue!
