If I were going to do it quick and dirty, I'd use a sand bag kept in place by a float bag. Put the sand bag all the way in the end, stuff the float bag in, and inflate it until the entire compartment is full. If you don't have a float bag you could use pool noodles, but I don't know if they'd work as well.
