I also made a carved seat. It only took about two hours to make but made a huge difference in comfort. It's only 14 inches front to back, though, because that is all the foam I had on hand to work with. I now stick one of those foam roof rack pads in front of the seat to support my legs. It fits perfectly in the boat and eases the numbness problem. -Wes
