: Dear Forum readers, I am now in a desperate situation so I am
: trying this out. I get seriously numb feet/lower legs when I
: paddle my 17foot sea kayak any distance, I have tried all sorts
: of foam carving shapes and donut bum/cheek seats but it is not
: really working, I literally am screaming in pain after only 40
: minutes paddling, I thmne have to take deck off and stretch leg,
: I have tried raising seat, lowering seat, extra padding on
: backrest(tho n ot much) and I am now clutching at straws. I am
: even seeing a sports Dr to se if he can help and he suggested
: this site. any ideas very much appreciated
: Kind regards from a Screaming sea kayaker in Tasmania Australia
Easiest way to fix this is to actively use the whole bod when you're paddling. Using proper torso rotation and pushing off with your feet keeps your lower body active and thus less prone to cramping.
Hand paddling is also quite tiring.
