Now you got me thinking about Linda. She has this really bad habit of swinging wildly any time bugs land on her, even when she is in the kayak. She gets hot wearing the pfd and takes it off. I think I will have to start setting an example for her for that very reason. She almost dumped at the lake last weekend because a dragonfly landed on her and she did her usual shout and swing routine. She was only in 2 feet of water so I wasn't worried about her getting wet but she might do it in deeper water...that would be a struggle and I know I would either have to use the VJ to give her something to hold onto or I'd have to bail and swim to rescue. The pfd would help her get back up. I swim far better than she does, she is a panicker...I am not. She will not paddle in anything other than flat water during calm weather so it will be a big nasty bug that causes her to tip.

Bear in mind that I am not resistant to using a pfd, and I understand the possibilities, I am just not worried about swimming as far as I go. Linda is a different story.
