I think I'm misunderstanding. I can stand over the station and sight straight down the vertical line and see that it's lined up with the upper and lower strings. But that could happen whether the form is vertical, or slightly tilted towards the bow or stern.

: Stand OVER each station and sight down the vertical line on the

: align the station line with the top and bottom string lines.

: This assumes you have properly plumbed the upper line with the
: lower line first.
